「我承認我擁有一個混亂的記憶之海,像一個貪婪而從不收拾的浮動雜物房。然而,記憶的潮汐一定有著某種與精神相通的規律,因此,在我記憶的海灣,有些事物永久下沈,有些事物卻會反覆地浮上水面來。」

This video installation assembles a "junk observatory" constructed from personal relics collected by the artist from Sham Shui Po residents. Through telescopes, viewers encounter fragmented imagery extracted from the artist's own obsolete mobile devices – forgotten digital memories stripped of temporal and spatial anchors.

The work constructs an archaeological site of memory through material detritus: discarded personal effects fossilize into strata of intimate histories, while digital image fragments expose contemporary memory's double-bind. Cloud storage propagates the illusion of "permanent archiving," yet information overload reduces memories to derelict clutter in our mental landscapes.

The act of peering through telescopes grotesquely mirrors our era's "spectacularization of memory" – we ritualistically magnify decontextualized memory specimens through screens, even as our swiping fingers perpetually manufacture new amnesias. When memories cling to formats awaiting imminent obsolescence, when "screenshots" supplant sustained gaze, do we witness collective recollection drowning in digital ocean vortices?

〈海在下沈、海在漂浮〉為一組影像裝置,張氏從深水埗收集來自不同人身上的舊物,組裝成一座雜物觀景台。透過望遠鏡,觀眾將看到零碎影像,這些影像皆為藝術家從自己的舊手機中擷取,卻早已忘記何時何地拍攝的記憶。

 

此裝置以物質殘骸構築記憶考古現場——被拋棄的隨身物件成為私密歷史的化石層,而數位影像碎片則暴露當代記憶的雙重困境:一方面,雲端儲存製造了「永恆存檔」的幻覺;另一方面,訊息過載使影像如雜物般堆積,在大腦裡荒廢。

觀眾透過望遠鏡的窺視姿態,暗喻數位時代「記憶觀光化」的荒謬性:我們以放大檢視的儀式感,膜拜那些失去脈絡的記憶標本,卻在指尖滑動間不斷生產新的遺忘。當我們的記憶依附於隨時可能格式化的載體,當「螢幕截圖」取代了凝視,記憶是否終將沉沒於數位海洋的渦流中?
